Laurence Pennington

(Pitjantjatjara, born c. 1934 at Urlu in Spinifex country, Western Australia) is a senior Indigenous artist and traditional custodian. Raised in a traditional hunter‑gatherer culture, his deep spiritual connection to the land underpins his art. His paintings—often depicting the Walawuru (wedge‑tailed eagle) and Wati Kutjara (Two Snake Men) Dreaming tracks—feature bold lines and jewel‑like contrasts that evoke the stark beauty of the Great Victoria Desert  . He began painting professionally in the 1990s with the Spinifex Arts Project, and his work has been featured in major exhibitions both in Australia and internationally
